A Trip to the Zoo

Our first adventure during spring break was a trip to the Abilene Zoo with some very dear friends, The Wade's, and their sweet kids, Gavin and Emma. It was a very short trip, but we all had a super fun time. It also happened to be our first night in a hotel room with the boys! How exciting! When we arrived at the hotel, Cayden went in first, with Cole following... He examined every inch of the room, including the closets and the very small bathroom. He looked up at me and his first response was, "Mom, where is my playroom?" He tried several times to open the door to the adjoining room, thinking that the playroom might be hidden behind that door. ha! So we had to explain that this was a hotel room, and we were all going to sleep in the same room...and so on. He and Cole soon discovered that hiding in the closets, turning the air on and off when daddy wasn't looking, and jumping on the beds was much funner than having a playroom. I don't know how we escaped that hotel room without any injuries, but thankgoodness we did.

On to the zoo....the boys had a great time looking at the animals. We saw monkeys, giraffes, flamingos, zebras, lions, tigers, and bears...oh my! The zoo had crackers you could buy to feed the animals, so of course, we got a few packages. The giraffes were SO much fun. They have this huge bridge that you walk up, and you can feed the crackers to the giraffes right from the bridge! We quickly opened the crackers and passed them out to all the kiddos...as soon as I turned around to watch them feed the giraffes, Cole was walking toward me with this AWFUL look on his face. He had crumbs all over his mouth, and he says, "Mommy, I don't wike this!" (as he hands me his cracker....OH MY GOSH!) They had a blast running freely through the zoo, and watching to see what the animals were doing. I got a little concerned when we were checking out the tiger and the black leopard...they were both eyeing Coley pretty good....I'm sure they were thinking that he would be a very yummy snack if they could just find a way through that glass!

We had a very fun time, and the hotel experience was not so bad. However, they BOTH fell out of bed at different times during the night. (And yes, I even tucked the sheets in to try to prevent them from falling!) I guess I better pack the bed rails when we venture out for a week long trip in Austin this summer with Daddy! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Also, some people have emailed me about how to post comments... Anyone can post a comment on the blog. It doesn't matter if you have a google account or not. If you don't have a google account, just check "anonymous" in the drop down box, and then you can leave a comment. (Nice comments, that is....=))
